Employer brand for property managers: why someone should start with you.

An employer brand for property management companies answers the question applicants ask before they consider a job in the housing industry at all: why here, and not in an industry that does not sound like leases and service charges. I build that answer with management companies in Berlin: positioning as an employer, careers page, imagery, texts, and the website all of it lives on.

The situation.

The VDIV industry barometer 2026 reports: more than half of property management companies cannot fill open positions, 62 percent are overloaded, and many hand back properties because of it. The Bavarian housing association launched its own employer campaign in July 2026 because applicants associate the industry only with leases and service charges. The REB Institute study with HWR Berlin shows the company website is the most important source for applicants.

What an employer brand needs.

A statement that is true: what working with you differs from working with the competitor, in one sentence your staff would sign. A careers page that Google and AI engines read, with real people, real tasks and salary ranges. Pictures that do not come from a database. And an application path done in two minutes.

At Honey Lou I built a team from nothing and know what keeps people at a workplace. This is not a campaign, it is a promise the business has to keep.

What you get.

Employer positioning, in writing. Careers page with job pages, structured data for Google Jobs and a short application path. Photo session with your team. Texts for job ads and LinkedIn. Measurement: applications per month before and after.

Questions

What does an employer brand cost?
Positioning, careers page, photos and texts have a fixed price by scope. You know it before the start. For comparison: according to VDIV, an unfilled position costs management companies properties they have to hand back.
We are small. Is it worth it?
From about ten staff, yes, because every resignation is then a tenth of the capacity. For smaller teams an honest careers page is often enough.
How is this different from a recruiting agency?
An agency fills one position. An employer brand makes applicants come and stay on their own. Both can run side by side.
Can we combine it with the company brand?
Yes, that is the normal case. Employer brand and company brand stand on the same positioning and the same website.
