A Music Venue, Built from Nothing

VenueBrandSpatial DesignTech

Berlin's nightlife often feels cold and impersonal. Honey Lou was born from a desire of my Co-Founder Paul Rieck and me to change that, to create a bar where warmth, music, and human connection take center stage. A place where sound, design, and energy come together to make people feel at home.

challenge

Berlin nightlife often feels cold and impersonal. We wanted a bar where warmth, music and human connection take center stage, a place that makes people feel at home.

approach

Interior design, creative direction, ownership, strategy, communication and marketing. From the 1910 bar counter to custom acoustic panels, a vinyl DJ booth and live music curation, every detail designed so tradition meets contemporary elegance.

impact

Honey Lou is now one of Berlin's most talked-about intimate venues. 200+ events, consistent sold-out nights, a 5K+ community, and TikTok content reaching over 150,000 views organically.

From the start, we knew the light had to be sunset orange, a feeling of endless sunsets, radiating warmth, energy, and connection. Inspired by Neukölln's character, we combined two worlds: the charm of an old Berlin Kneipe, with our 1910 bar counter, and the sleek accents of modern elegance. The result is a stylish yet grounded space, where tradition meets contemporary design.

Honey Lou interior design

Most bars are too loud. Echo and reverb do the damage, not the music. We measured the room and built sound-absorbing panels into the interior. You can hold a conversation at the bar without raising your voice.

Berlin runs on techno. We wanted a room for the music it leaves no space for. Bossa nova, salsa and jazz, live, on a regular schedule. The TikToks from those nights passed 150,000 views with no paid promotion.

We rebuilt the vinyl booth with designer Aquiles Jarrín and his studio Morphism. The reference was a Japanese listening bar, without making it a copy. Collectors and DJs from other cities play there regularly.
